Photographing your Pet for the Portrait
This is an important part of the portrait process: getting good photographs of your pet. You know your pet intimately but sadly I don't. So let's start with the fact that for your pet portrait I can only paint what I see! Photographs taken in poor light, using a flash (red eyes), from a distance or too close to the pet might can change the essence of your pet's nature and make for a poor portrait. It is the small details that help me to correctly capture your pet's looks and personality. A good eye level photo will make the portrait much easier. Well that's the ideal scenario but what if you simply can't get a good photograph of your pet for the portrait? Perhaps, sadly, your beloved pet has passed on and your portrait has to be done from old photographs? Don't worry, there are many ways we can overcome this. Unlike many portrait painters, I like to give my customers all the time they need to discuss the portrait and how we can overcome any errors and omissions in the photographs to create the portrait your pet and you deserve. |
